I am sure that my army composition is far from optimal, but hopefully it may give you some food for thought. This is roughly 50% more units than you are fielding. Give up some of your expensive units and get more cheaper ones to cover more area, have more flexibility and support your forces (as Kerensky said).įor example, my typical army composition mid game is something like 6 tanks, 2 AT, 3 AA guns, 2-4 arty, 5-6 infantry (with 2-3 pioneer), 2 fighters, 2 ground recons, 1 air recon, 3 tac bombers, 1-2 strat bombers. My best guess is that you need to diversify your army. Also, if you have too few unit, you risk getting encircled, ganged up or unable to progress in more than one route even if your units are high quality. I find tactical bombers critical against the Soviet armoured divisions (and western allies tanks in fact), yet you seem to have none. The Russian front is harder than fighting the western allies. Indeed you are not providing specific info in order to get specific advice. If there's any specific questions then ask them here, you'll get quite a few players offering advice. Several pretty decent players are currently posting their campaigns there although mostly they're playing the capture game! Both play at a good level and both also have tutorials as well as actual campaigns at the hardest difficulty level.Īnother place to check is the AAR section. Got to like 3rd Brit scenario in Desert and figured not going to win, tried Russia branch it was worse. I tried playing the First Campaign (Poles) second from hardest level with normal Hero points etc. I have played all the General games and may have played a thousand + battles, so I am a very experienced player. Even if all of Roland was executed as planned (which was not, it seems only part was executed) the Russian had 3 armies waiting much further back and the 4th GdTkC and 3rdGdMech C with well over 200 AFV. Which version is true? The 3rd PzC had already been shattered, the 6th and 19th PzD had barely 20 tanks each, while the 7th had around 50 (does anyone have the exact numbers in PzIII, PzIV?) The DR SS panzer was still strong.
This was the reserve that was to be used in Roland. It ended on the 17th when the 24PzC was sent away. and 7th Pz did attack starting on the 14 or 15 and closed the gap. Many other sites declare it was planned but not executed at all, while others state only part of the plan was, that is part of the 2SS Pz DR div. Many sites indicate it did happen between July 15-17 to close the gap between the 3rd PzC and 2SS Pz C and many Russian maps support this but most of the 69A escaped the trap (about 3-4 divisions).
